We have a core group of daily active players who have been together a long time. Beyond that we have welcomed and accepted all sorts, people who chat, people who are silent, shift workers who struggle in other co ops due to their unpredictable times. We prefer people to help deps by announcing what they have for projects. No requirement for personal chat but some do. We try to adapt around the mix of players we have at any time. Sometimes new farmers join and if they are keen we are happy to help them grow. We do like to do well in the tournament so a keen low level farmer is more useful than a high level who logs in once a week.
