Good day is it necessary to have more then one pig pen? I feel as if it takes up space when I can add an orchard instead.

Pig pen like all stables will give you dunk that ou can transform into fertiliser to grow your orchards, so it would be quite useless to have a lot of orchards but no stables to make the dunk and then fertiliser.
